- Who am I ??

I am very much inspired by prof. Raymond Smullyan's book 'This Book Needs no Title'. Through this post, I also tried to show how quirky simple things can be....

There was a man who had a strong desire to know whether he is a rational or irrational. A rational person is one who uses clear thinking or reason for doing any work. His desire took him to various people. In search of an appropriate answer, he went to a philosophy professor in University.

He asked him, "Professor, would you answer my question?"
Professor said,"Yes, of course Mr., tell me."
'Am I a rational or irrational person ?' he eagerly asked.
'Well, you are a rational person.' prof. told.
The man immediately asked, 'Why ?'
prof. said, 'see, you are again looking for the reason. How ridiculously rational you are ?'
The answer was quite convincing, but not to the man. He wondered 'How can I be rational, I did do some things in life without a reason.'

He went to another philosophy professor.
He said,"professor, I want to know whether I am rational or irrational?"
'Why do you want to know this?' prof. asked.
'I don't know why, but I really want to know this.' man answered.
Prof. said 'See you are looking for the answer without any particular reason. How ridiculously irrational you are?'
The man was still not convinced. He wondered 'How can I be irrational, I always liked logic and reasoning.

He went to a third professor who believed that a man is one who he really wants to be. The man again asked the same question.
Prof. asked, "What you really want to be Mr., rational or irrational?"
After thinking for a while, he replied,"I want to be rational, sir."
Prof. said with a smile,'well, then you are rational, but this idea that you want to be rational is itself quite irrational.' He said this and left.
The man at last remained confused. Actually, I know this man, if he would find that he is irrational, he would say,'How illogical and non-scientific am I? My life is totally meaningless and if he would find that he is rational, he would say,'How totally uninteresting and boring am I. I always go for the reason.'

Prof. Raymond Smullyan is actually right. How ridiculously paradoxical life is....

A Blind Faith on Sight

One day, I was just waiting for something in a waiting room sitting on a bench and suddenly my eyes caught a man of age about 23(5-6 years older than me) sitting on a bench next to me. He was actually looking pretty nervous, joining his hands, heading up to the roof ( in a traditional way of praying in India). I guessed he was expecting his exam results that evening.
I went towards him and sat next to him on the same bench and after 7 minutes of unnecessary silence, I could not stop myself asking a question.

'Do you believe in God?' I asked.

He reacted as suddenly an obvious and unnecessary question came to him. I could see that irritation on his face.
'Yes, I do.' He reluctantly replied.

'Have you ever seen him?' I asked.

Another same kind of question increased irritation on his face.
'No' He replied.

'Do you believe that you will be able to see him in future?' I asked.

His face suddenly dropped to neutral.
He said, "Frankly speaking, No I do not."

"Why?" I asked.

"Because no one, in the world ever could prove to see him. Just no one, neither my father, nor my  grandfather, nor his father...." He replied.
"Your answer seems quite rational and logical to me." I said.

After a small pause, I said "Do you know what? I can see him. He is just right behind you."

He confidently pointed at me and said, "look, I believe in existence of god but I don't believe you that he is behind me."

"Then, where is he?" I asked.
He said, "He can be anywhere, anywhere in the world, anywhere in the universe."
I said, "Anywhere, but not behind you...... Why? Actually he is behind you, gazing at you, staring at you like a proud father."
He said in some loud voice, "oh... ya... I don't believe you."
I asked in some more loud voice, "But why... why not, Mr. Why don't you believe me?"
Boiled with zeal, He replied, "Because, I cannot see him."
I said, " But you yourself, acknowledged that you will never be able to see him."
Then, I said with a smile on my face, "Lets start again Mr., Do you believe in God?..........................."

Actually, the fact is that whatever happens, whatever he says, man will never stop having a blind belief on his senses.
